Gluten Free Kitchen Therapy

How It Works

Overwhelmed with the gluten free diet?
Sick of being sick?
Find it difficult to cook gluten free?
Need to learn how to shop and cook using safe ingredients?
Wondering where to begin?

You may have been thrilled to get a diagnosis. Then the reality of the challenges set in. Now you want to know how eating gluten free can be joyous and become second nature.

There is so much to know. If you thought you knew how to cook, the ingredients have suddenly changed. Now you’re searching for things you’ve never heard of before. And reading every label. Shopping takes hours. You’d like get it down to half an hour again. Your previously never fail recipes are now a flop. You want to how to adapt them so they are “safe” and just as good as you remember.

Or you don’t cook and would like to learn. You can’t find good tasting convenience foods in the gluten free aisle of the grocery store. That shrink wrapped gluten free pizza crust has an expiration date 6 months from now. It’s also hard as a brick. How good can that be? And yes, more restaurants are offering gluten free meals, but you’d really like greater variety. You’d also like to feel confidant that there are no mistakes.

Linda will begin where you are. She’ll assess what your challenges are, what you know, what you need to know, and what you want to know. She’ll be right with you every step of the way.

Gluten Free Kitchen Therapy makes house calls! Linda comes to you and goes through your pantry, teaching you about label reading, gluten free ingredients, and how to adapt your favorite recipes. She takes into account ingredients, cookbooks, and equipment you may already have. You tell her what type of dishes you like to eat, and any other restrictions you need to consider. You fill out an extensive questionnaire . You choose recipes you would like to make. You might start with muffins, meatloaf, or mousse. Linda will navigate the grocery store with you, again reading labels, and recommending the best gluten free ingredients. You can continue cooking classes as long as you like. You could learn how to make 30-minute meals, or how to cook ahead and eat for weeks. You could also try out a pressure cooker, stick blender, or stand mixer.

How long will all this take?

The initial assessment in your home will take about an hour. Grocery shopping will take another hour in the store. Cooking classes depend on what dishes that are cooked, and how many. Sessions can be scheduled over several days or weeks, or grouped together.

From M.A.G.I.C. cooking class students (Madison Area Gluten Intolerance Chapter):

I've been cooking gluten free for years.  And I still learned so much today.

I've made literally 250 loaves of bread in my bread machine, and it never worked.  Yesterday I      was successful and made my first loaf of bread that actually looked like bread!  The bread      machine will go in the next rummage sale :o)

You have really helped me today.  I'm going right to the store and make the quinoa salad for my      family tonight.

I'm making the Nutty Wild Rice, Chicken, and Cranberry Salad for my book club.

Wow, those teff pancakes are great.

THe Mac and Cheese with Roasted Tomatoes is the best, the best!

     You were well appreciated!
